DFW Airport Drywall Finishing & Coatings Case Study
Drywall Finishing and Painting Overview
We were contracted to perform the tape/bed, drywall finish, painting, and specialty coatings on the DFW Airport ACO Project. That included tape/bed, level 5 drywall finish, painting drywall partitions, and intumescent coatings applied to fire-rated plywood, along with some multi-colored specialty finishes applied to the concrete columns. The DFW Airport painting project was about 18,000 sqft in total and was completed in about seven months.
Drywall Finishing and Painting Steps Used
Each construction project is different, but the processes are the same. These are the steps that were used on this project.
Our work started after about 1/3 of the drywall partitions had been installed on the project.
All new drywall partitions were taped, floated, and vacuum sanded to a level 5 finish.
A Primer coat was applied to all drywall partitions.
All door frames and other joints are sealed using acrylic caulk.
Two coats of finish were applied to all drywall partitions.
The fire-rated plywood received two coats of intumescent paint.
The concrete columns received a primer/base coat and then a multi-color coat.
